Quantum Navigator, the new collection by third-generation artist Guillo Perez III combines a David Hockney palette with the Pérez family style of composition. If, as contemporary physicists say, the speed of thought is faster than the speed of light, what then might Pérez’s art say to the viewer as we seemingly begin to contemplate an image before fully seeing it. Could these unique fantasy landscapes wherein the mythological meets with the artist’s projections of the mind bring the viewer to an almost out of body experience?
Guillo Pérez III blends the fantastical with the real in his magical expressionist, figurative oil on canvas paintings which articulate the vortex of inner visceral human emotions. Part of a Dominican art dynasty, Pérez was born in 1981 in Santo Domingo and raised in Queens, New York. He started studying painting from an early age with his grandfather, renowned artist, Guillo Pérez, considered one of the most prolific and important canvas artists of the Dominican Republic; and with his father, painter Willy Pérez. Guillo Pérez III is an established New York City artist, working primarily in oils and acrylics. With his alluring passion for color and strong use of drawing, he mixes renaissance and expressionist influences and makes what he calls Bauhaus Bushido. Pérez has exhibited in numerous group shows and fair presentations. His works currently are mostly in private collections and national and international galleries. Patrons can enjoy a refreshing exchange of culture and philosophy from a modern master who Matisse himself would adore.
